Maldives | an introduction to diving

Humpback snappers The Maldives are a dream destination for many scuba divers – thousands of tiny islands are ringed by coral reefs that support incredibly prolific marine life. There are a wide variety of sites from easy house reefs to challenging open water dives where stronger currents attract pelagic species like sharks and manta rays.

The island resorts have become pretty busy these days as they attract ever more tourists, yet many still manage to retain that idyllic, castaway feel while still providing all the mod-cons. Scuba diving liveaboards are more prolific now too, pushing the boundaries by sailing much further from the popular central regions near North Malé, location of the international airport.
