Christmas Island is one of our all time favourite destinations: diving, trekking, fish, birds, history... Lately, there has also been some exciting developments with new flights, new resorts and now, two dive centres!

FLIGHTS: apart from the twice weekly flight from Perth, there is a new weekly charter flight from Jakarta. It departs on Saturdays.

DIVING: Scuba divers now have a choice of operations, the long-standing Christmas Island Wet'n'Dry Adventures or the European managed, Extra Divers.

RESORTS: The amazing and luxurious SWELL ecolodge is now operating inside the national park while closer to the heart of things is tropical-styled Villa Papaya.

See through sand on Christmas Island

This 3-dimensional sculpture was inspired by a photo taken on our last trip to the island. It captures the reflections in a rock pool on the narrow, rocky shoreline at Winifred Beach, which divides the rainforest from the Indian Ocean.
