Diving the Lembeh Straits, Indonesia
Dive Log
LOCATION:
Lembeh Straits, Indonesia
DIVE SITE:
Pantai Parigi,
DEPTH:
10 metres
COMMON NAME:
Yellow-speckled Shrimp
LATIN NAME:
Urocaridella urocaridella
It really makes no difference how many times you go diving in the Lembeh Straits, there is always something new to discover. Our latest trip to the region was one of many and yet we are still amazed by what we see.

At less than 20 mm long, this beautiful – and heavily pregnant – shrimp was staking her place on a stinging hydroid. There were 4 or 5 others on nearby fronds so perhaps that explains the pregnancy.

We didn't know what type of shrimp it was until later and were much amused to see the Latin name - Urocaridella urocaridella. It reminds you of that song, so good they named it twice!
