PAPUA NEW GUINEA: the last frontier? |
| Diving reviews: worldwide scuba diving holiday destination reviews; resort and liveaboard reports from popular diving regions. |
We have only dived the remote islands of Papua New Guinea a few times but have loved it every time. What makes this scuba diving destination a little hard to get to, is also its saving grace. The country was by-passed by early travellers due to it’s extreme geography, yet the soaring mountain ranges and inhospitable terrain have preserved a rich and varied eco-system.
Beneath the waterline, lies a vast range of incredible reef systems. These sit firmly inside the Coral Triangle, the area regarded as the marine world's most bio-diverse. Little damaged by man or nature, these reefs are highly prolific.
News from MV Febrina is that they are continuing the tradition of exploration by announcing a new route to the waters in the southern Lindhaven area.

| Our underwater photography galleries have been updated to include new images and extended image galleries – where possible – and some additional information to help you identify some of the animals you will see underwater. This is a continually growing section of the website and we will continue to adapt and update pages when we can.

Coming soon... |
| We're looking forward to diving the islands of Halmahera, Ternate and Tidore in Indonesia. Part of the famed Spice Islands, the islands were important kingdoms in the era before the Dutch colonized the entire archipelago and, during World War II, Halmahera was the site of a Japanese naval base.
There is reputed to be some spectacular wildlife both underwater and on land – fingers crossed. We will be reporting back soon.
After our liveaboard, we will also be returning to the marvellous Lembeh Straits. This region goes from strength to strenth with new critters being discovered on a regular basis.
